Home service contractors

You pay per technician. Hiring should not raise your software bill.

Field service software is priced on the number of people you employ. Put another truck on the road and the platform charges more, along with every add-on that is priced the same way.

What a contractor is usually paying for

One platform, sold in tiers, with the useful extras priced separately.

Field service platformPer user per month, in tiers. Office staff and managers usually count as users alongside technicians.
Customer texting and remindersAn add-on priced per user, per message, or as a higher tier.
Online bookingOften reserved for the upper plans.
Payments and financingA share of each payment collected through the platform, on top of card processing.
Accounting sync, call tracking, review requestsSeparate monthly add-ons that each solve one small problem.

Headcount pricing punishes the thing you are trying to do

A growing contractor adds people: an apprentice, a second dispatcher, a summer crew. Under per-user pricing every one of them raises the bill, including the apprentice who only needs to see tomorrow's jobs. Shops respond by sharing logins, which works until you need to know who marked a job complete.

Tiers add a second squeeze. The feature you need, often something modest such as recurring maintenance plans or a custom form, sits one tier up, and moving up re-prices every user you have.

To see your own figure, count everyone with a login, multiply by the monthly rate, add the add-ons, and then do it again with the headcount you plan to have next year. The second number is the one to make decisions with.

What we rebuild for a contractor

  • SchedulingJobs booked against real technician availability, with recurring maintenance visits created automatically.
  • A dispatch boardToday's jobs by technician, drag to reassign, and status updates from the field as they happen.
  • Estimates and invoicingBuilt from your own price list, sent from the van, paid by card through your processor.
  • Reminders and on-the-way textsAppointment reminders and arrival messages in your wording.
  • Customer and property historyEvery past job, photo and note for an address, in front of the technician before they knock.

What stays as it is

  • Card processingCharged by the processor at the processor's rate. We do not add a share on top.
  • Your accounting packageYour bookkeeper keeps the books where they are. Invoices and payments are passed across.
  • Consumer financing providersLenders run their own applications and approvals. We link to them from the estimate.
  • Vehicle tracking hardwareTrackers and their data service stay with the supplier.

Four jobs do most of the work

Ask an owner what the platform is used for and the answer is nearly always the same four things: scheduling, dispatch, invoicing and reminders. The platform has many more features than that, written for contractors of every trade and size, and you pay for all of them through the per-user rate.

Building only those four, around how your crews really work, is what makes the sums come out differently. It also means the screens use your words. If your shop says call-outs rather than work orders, so does the software.

Questions contractors ask

Will technicians use it on their phones?

Yes. The field side is built for a phone first: today's jobs, directions, job notes, photos, the estimate and taking payment. Anyone on the crew can have access because the price does not change with the number of users.

Does it work with our accounting software?

Invoices and payments are passed to the accounting package you already use, so your bookkeeper's process does not change. Which package, and how much detail is sent, is settled when we quote.

We run three trucks. Is this only for bigger outfits?

At three trucks the rented platform may well be the right choice. Work out the yearly total, then work it out again at the size you expect to be in two years. If both numbers are small, stay put.

What happens to customer history and past jobs?

We move it across, including past jobs, notes and photos where your current platform will export them. The first thing we check is what that export contains.
